novel keys from bulgaria

Greetings all from Bulgaria. Im sending a postcard with images of various methods of render keys, adobe strength and communist decorative render. All from a village study on adobe building.
Bulgaria has a rich history of natural building and continues to use its past heritage with many modern twists. I've done many renovations here and lived in a mud brick house for 2 years.
But it seems very common that the final protective render was often neglected, forgotten or just fell off.

My Pleasure - I hope you liked the use of bottle tops - my favorite key method so far - with regards originality.
All the best and feel free if you would like better images or info - I have plenty both internal and external of rendering and construction. I'm in the process of designing our new natural house at the moment. Cob, straw/clay hybrid it seems at the moment....... with render..... but maybe no bottle tops.

Hi Rob - Bulgaria is a true hidden gem of a place - Paragliding brought me here - the nature, landscape and people kept me here - Permaculture and family now keeps me here.

The past is kept alive with the continued habitation of earthen houses here in BG. Its the norm now for most to foam the outside walls then cement/lime or epoxy render. But its a testament to the durability of the adobe and of course, a good hat and boots, that even without a traditional or modern render most of these, sometimes over a 100 yrs old, properties are still going strong.

I would be happy to post some more pictures - any aspect in particular you are interested in? In the mean time here is a pic of one of our super modern, honey processing plants.
