I've never quarantined new birds, perhaps I've been lucky, but I see it that they need a sampling of whats out there to keep them strong, kinda like us, we don't live in a bubble or at least most don't, we get sick from time to time, but I feel thats what makes us stronger, unless it kills us of course! but like in life everyone will choose their own path. I live in the UK so it usually doesn't get extremely cold, wet and windy is the normal pattern, so I recently built a triple wall polycarbonate greenhouse and I'm using horticultural fleece to help protect tender plants at night. I don't plan on using any additional heat, fuel costs are just too high, I'll know better by spring if I have done enough to keep salad crops etc in my unheated greenhouse.
Here is a short video of the crops and fleece...

I'd read about a system similar to that before, I like to use broody hens, perfect for smaller numbers of birds and with your breeding stock penned separate from the main laying flock you know what you are rearing.

Here is a short video of my latest batch, hope you enjoy.

I had been trying to source old windows etc, but was unable to get a quantity, so decided to bite the bullet and go with the triple wall polycarbonate. I've just recently finished building it, I'm trying to get a few winter salad crops in at the moment!
