I live at the foothills of the western slope of the rockies mild winters for the most part but it gets cold (is snowing now..). The picture shown is the bottom floor, and concrete foundation and would be able to support the new mass. The room to be heated is somewhat of a glorified loft a-frame. about 7000csf of space. i am mostly worried about the proper insulation for the existing structure cob/drywall juncture as to not burn it down..

I have just purchased an existing house and would like to install a thermal mass heater (rocket stove) in the living room. I wanted to run the cob bench along the existing wall (classic 2x4 and drywall) and was wondering if there would be a fire danger? if so are there any strategies to insulating this existing area from heat?
