Thanks Miles, I had only just begun to look at the book thread, when I posted this question. I plan on using it for info on our next book purchases. There is SO much here in the forums, and so much I want to learn. The combination means I want to spend All My Time on permies...I need to pace myself. Or not sleep, ever.

We decided on Bill Molison's Permaculture, A Designers Manual. It was well worth the cost, and Rob is already making a protective leather pouch for it. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

Hi everybody! My partner in crime, Rob, and I just bought land in Douglas county Missouri. We are moving there in about 39 days to start our Permaculture homestead. Eventually we would love to start a small intentional community, but that may happen slowly and we need to get ourselves settled first. We would love to talk to/get to know locals who are into Permaculture.

Thanks William. It's 39 days until our move, so in this next month that is one of my projects, to make as many connections in the area as possible.
I have also been pouring over the Forums just for general information. I am well aware of how much I don't know.

Thanks Allen! I love Amazon and have found the Designers Manual on Amazon, and plan to buy it shortly. We will be eventually building a good permaculture library in actual book form. Until that time, we will be using libraries etc to make sure we have all of the information we need.

Hi, my name is Amber. I have been studying permaculture for just over a year. My partner in crime Rob has known about and been practicing it for over 20 years now.
We bought 40 acres in the Ozarks, so very soon I will be in Missouri, building my home, and beginning our permaculture adventure.
I find permaculture the most amazing/common sense/innovative approach to growing food and understanding nature I have ever come across. I have become a permaculture enthusiast/geek in a very short time.

Thanks Michael and Ann! All of the books you mentioned are on my list to read and get eventually. This helps to narrow my search and make this less overwhelming, because I want them ALL!

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this website, and I have been intensly studying permaculture for the past year and a half. I just bought a 40 acre plot of land in Missouri with my partner in crime. He has been studying and practicing permaculture for over 20 years now. We are planning to move in March to begin building and planting. We can only afford to buy one book on permaculture at the moment, and we really can't agree on which one to buy.
Could we get some recommendations please?
Thank you!

This is fascinating stuff! As a 5 foot tall person with albinisim, I understand not fitting in to a group. I tend to keep my crazy to myself unless I have a good reason to let it out. Initially, I did that to protect myself, now I do it because my hobbies don't fall into the norm on any scale, so I protect THEM...my fall down the permaculture hole just made that more obvious to me. I have sent many people away with a deer caught in headlights look!
