My son and his family just moved to some lovely land in MO. They have been busy trying to minimize invasive plants and I think they would love to see these ideas for their forested areas. I am sure that their local extension service has a long list of native herbs and plants.
I think the humidity may be the problem, just hoping that someone had come up with something else that helped. I guess it was wishful thinking, because they grew so well in the heat out west, dry heat though.
Has anyone had success producing fruit on Pomegranates in Central Florida? I get moderate growth and once in a while a flower or two, no fruit. Are we just too humid?
So far just kitchen scraps. Then I cover with newspaper and wood chips that I got from a tree guy and I let it age for a while. I am building bed areas kind of a square foot at a time.
For lack of time right now I am just burying my kitchen scraps a bucket at a time in places I plan to plan in later. What are the biggest drawbacks to this other than the obvious lack of big diversity in materials composted?
