Pasties are very available in Mexico. They even have the same name. They came to Mexico with Cornish miners, after Mexico became independent from Spain in the early nineteenth century, to the city of Pachuca, still an important mining town.

There are all sorts of pasties, from traditional to hit chile to sweet ones, an incredible variety.

Pachuca also started football in Mexico as well, and you can blame the miners for that as well !

Just be aware of the African Swine Virus or whatever it is called that is sweeping SE Asia and spreading out from China, Vietnam and points south.

And Water hyacinth is a real plague, but it harvests everything in the water including heavy metals.

I don't know whether there are any Inga style plants. These are subtropical plants in Central and South America that fix nitrogen and gives a good firewood for cooking as well.

Interesting and entertaining. There are a load of donkeys in Mexico, and there was a great effort to develop small agricultural tools to be used by donkeys made here some years ago, financed in part by the UK govt. and the location was the State of Veracruz. However, I think all these have been overtaken by the NoTill concept as someone has already mentioned. Pigs are great for startups as they till the soil and their manure gets in there as well. Afterwards, I still believe no-till is the answer at least here in Mexico. I am not sure in the more northern climes where it seems many of you live and farm.
