Thank tou i will look into it. I sit in a lil cold pockey tho. Sometimea we do froat or freeze. Last year there was like one day where is hit 22 and. A couple days at 28. For the most part we dont. But there usually is a rabdom freeze in there unfortubately. Its wierd cause were like a lil colder than all around us in winter but a lil hotter in summer. That could work with lots of conpost to generate heat tho maybe.

Im in central florida. About 15 from the coast and like 40 something odd miles north of tampa .My soils pretty sandy so i will probably be dropping wood down into the soil most likely for a hugelkulture effect but ive been looking into living fences for a while now and the bulk of what i read in searching is either way way way north of me or in the uk. When i was 10 i used tovhear wild bob whites out here and hace heard that the disappearance of hedge rows from farm lands was partially why thwyve started dissapearing. That combined with the fact that the attle fence is starting to need major repair and my resources are limited i thought id turn to an atyemt at hedgerows. Id prefer if the had another purpose like bearing sum sort of food for my family or at least the ecoaystem but maybe thats too much to ask. If any one has sum input for my neck of the woods itd be greatly appreciated

Good luck man. Im at the same endeavor as you right now but a slight bit ahead of you. Some people have had success keeping them with chicken i am trying to do so, tho the guineas can be a lil agressive towards them its working. I put nesting boxes on the ground to try and get the chickens to encourage them to use the nesting boxes too  but the guineas still get flighty and run or fly across the nesting boxes and will poop on eggs ocassionally or break. Its the one down side. Guineas are ground nesters so that was my thought tho i think am going to hang the nesting boxes higher again and just make sume sort of corner with tall field grasses around it instead for them. tho i am sure sum of my guineas did. Use the nesting boxes there was still spoartic eggs randomly on the floor and a hayed and wood chipped enclosure.  Just sum info on ny set up fpr your. Knowing sum of what to expect and these ares young guineas like not a gull year yet bossing around my year and cpuple month old chickens. They specifically pick on one for sum reason lately it seems. He has less tail featjers than the rest and if you dont have a raccoon trap get one and bait it often.

Same i never pick all i find either. Well sounds like you peeps on the west coast are on the track of it. I doubt my chantrelles in the southeast share the same bacteria and all but thats awesome. You west coasters got everything lol

Im reviving this becuase I too have wondered about growing chantrelles i live in central fl and live on a farm of 120 acres. Very few times i have seen them grow on my property but when i take walks into withlachoochie state forest i have seen boat loads of them and they are quite tasty. They do always seem to be among oak trees though. Everytime ive seen them. When i saw the lush patches in the state forest though they were amongst pine too though. In fact the forest floor was more pine needles at least at that time on surface so id wager oak and pines become symbiotic with them. What i would love to know or find is whatever mircoryzai or whatever it is that creates that relationship to employ the korean natural farming tech to so we can do imo (indigenous mirco organisms) cultures to create that. A cpuple years have passed maybe other people know more about it now? Anyone know if itll take to agar from a live tissue sample?
