I am looking at a nice property; the barn is perfect... but the house is Amish (strict Amish)... there is no electricity or central heat system.   Has anyone gone through an major upgrade of an otherwise modern home?

I started 4 years ago, and have just thrived.   I live about an hour from the Canadian border.   This place is so beautiful.  I started with Chantecleer Chickens, Royal Palm Turkeys, Katahdin Sheep, Scottish Highland Cattle, and a good dog.   It turns out I really want to raise cattle, and am looking for a new piece of land that is at least 40 acres.  
I would be glad to share experiences - about moving from the East Coast (Washington DC)  to a rural zone 3 environment.   I have LOTS of learning that I can share: everything from work boots, snow plows, water lines, and cabin construction.

I started 4 years ago, and have discovered I want to raise cattle.  I am looking for a 40 acre land, and will probably be selling this 5 acre "turn-key" homestead.  Modern 2 bedroom log house; stall parking, woods, water, and newly fenced pasture.  1000sq ft garden; apple trees, raspberries, rhubarb, asparagus, etc.    Perfect for chickens, turkeys, sheep (I have two), a cow(I have 4) or horses, and a good dog.  Where would I advertise to find like-minded people?
