im moving to cali to be closer to my gf at some point, preferably sooner then later. looking for partners to homestead with in the hills outside of fresno. probably practice some evasion, find a nice lot with good privacy to do so, living under code for a while, as needed, and building out a coded house over the course of a couple years as money allows while working in the city. if your family (or if anyone else on this thread) is interested in something like that, its good to have extra hands. lets talk possible collaboration.

nice design! i used two bipods on each end, with an angular string from the top of one of the legs of one biped to the bottom of one of the legs to the other biped, this gives it stability so it doesn't just flatten. no having to hammer it into the ground. ill take a pic soon.

agreed. this is why market gardening, at least under capitalism, can be more sustainable and efficient. growing a limitted diversity of produce focusing on things you like but also make money, rather than just things you like, can save you both time, money, and burden on the land. god bless those with the passion and patience to breed foods for different climates though. if you are doing this, props to you.

has anyone tried using sport/fighting birds for pest control? im trying to think of a way to stack functions with rescuing these badass breeds from abusive owners, and a reason for breeding them but not for sport.

i assume they would be good at hunting rodents, and would carve out their own territories around a farm or orchard so that each area would have some protection. but then humans need to be prepared to spook em off as needed.

Take out a loan for it, or buy a bunch of space heaters, kerosene or electric. Not the most permaculture thing to do, but given the urgency. It will be more money in the long run, but less money then replacing the furnace AND broken pipes.

while it might not be worth the invested time/resources, if you make it yourself on the cheep, have limited space and seasons are short, a greenhouse in a bad location is better then no greenhouse at all.
