Wow john C. Daley
The coincidence is I had a farmer drop off a bale of alfalfa for free and told my wofe that his hay was the secret to getting rabbits to lay good eggs lol

They look alot like bag worms. Im sorry I have no pictures nor do I know what the actual name is but they like pecan trees. Maybe they are some cousin to them. Nonetheless I would try to get rid of them.

Also he collects about 200 gallons off his house during a big storm but that only happens once maybe twice a year.

Thank you both very much. I had considered hugelkulture but there are very few trees on his property. So I am not sure how to accomplish this. As far as what grows there...  he has a few pinon trees a few small oaks and some mesquite scrub yucca and some native grass clumps

I have a friend who lives out in west Texas. It is somewhere near pecos. I cant remeber the actual town name. Any way his land is a very steep incline. To put it in perspective the floor of his barn is about even with the roof of his 2 story house. And it is only 150 yards away. He has to haul in water by truck because his well only produces 8-10 gallons an hour. They have 5 kids. I am going to help him out with wicking beds and terracing.  I am a bit concerned with erosion. All of his land and the land surrounding it is covered in moon dust. It is a very fluffy sand like dirt that I think is limestone. He lives on the south side of a mountain. If there is any advice you can share it would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of maybe making a terrace/retaining wall out of IBC totes. My main concern there is he only gets 9 inches of rainfall a year and if he used the water inside them then they would loose their stability

Well I have it a little over half way full. I started out with a layer of cedar needles then put a layer of cotton wood logs and then all of my compost and then all 110 gallons of my BSF castings. At some point this week I am going to put in some shredded card board and finish filling it in with rabbit and goat manure. Here is a picture of the progress.

P.s. I opted out of doing the pine cones and will instead compost them

Thank you Michelle. Btw you have an awesome name my wife shares it with you. Anyway i appreciate the information. I am not sure of the plants that I want to plant but I will research this. Here are some pictures. The green on the inside is a nonbiodegradeable plastic vinyl that I get from work. I know it isn't very permaculture but I figure that I am keeping it out of a landfill by utilizing the scraps. My friend built the panels for me. And he stapled the plastic on in a way that we can plant viney plants along the border and push the stems through and they will climb over the pallets like a trellis. I will get more pictures as I go. And of better quality. It is always dark when I get done with projects there isnt enough time in the day haha. Cant wait for the time change!!!

I am making a raised bed. I have alot of oak and bois'd arc wood that I am going to put in the bottom. I will fill the top in with rabbit manure and BSF castings and regular dirt. My question is if I also add pine cones would it turn my soil acidic the same way pine woo would do?
I will add pictures tomorow when I get it all put together

I raise rabbits also for meat. I am looking into a fodder growing system. You should look into it for just a few rabbits you're system could be very small!!!

Thank you sir. I really like the idea of butchering classes. For 1 because I didnt even know how to break down a rabbit for about a year after we started raising them. As far as un-cuteifying them.... I will try posting weight and a little more on the breed. But it is dang near impossible to make them uncute, they are baby rabbits after all haha.

P.s. I do sell cages also but there is actually very little money in it when you figure in labor for building them. They are on another post.... maybe I could offer installation also.
