Hello,

Interested in trying a new type of living arrangement? Me and my boyfriend 24 and 26 have a few acreages we're looking at in NH and VT to set up a 20ft yurt and goat farm. Ideally, after settling we'd invite you to join us on our property. You could set up your own yurt, cabin or tiny home and we'll be neighbors. Huge plus if you like goats, which we'll be raising and renting out for landscaping. It would be awesome to find 3 or 4 other guys to start out with us. Also open to sharing a yurt but then we'd all need to pitch in for at least a 30ft one or bigger depending on how many guys want to share space.

If everything goes accordingly we should be closing on a plot of land by mid summer 2020. Hopefully we'll be in contact with some cool guys by then! Thanks for reading and feel free to message.

Where I live in Maine, most towns do not have any building codes. But that does not mean there are some things that a person has to do. There is typically a 2 acre minimum lot size, and a distance you have to stay from the property line (15 feet), and your well must be 100 feet from your leach field. And you do have to have a leach field. Other than that though, you can pretty much do whatever you want. It does not matter if you have a yurt, or a McMansion...those are the rules.

I do not know how Vermont is though, I suspect pretty lax on building codes. They do have incredibly high property taxes though...

Thank You! This was very helpful. We aren't set on Vermont so any information about North East states regulations helps!

Hey there,
My fiance and I have been looking more into the tiny lifestyle and have come to see that it is the most sustainable for the way that we want to live. We have been looking in the North East and more specifically in Vermont. I was wondering if any of you out there know of areas/towns open to tiny homers and where we could buy land to build our dream tiny house/ yurt legally. Thank you in advance

25 gay guy living in NJ. Thought I'd say hello. I'm definitely interested in the idea of going off grid with a few other gay guys and starting our own community. City living is unsustainable and the thought of grid failure is terrifying. I know with absolute certainty that living off grid is the healthiest and smartest thing to do right now. I don't think its a coincidence many people, even young ones are flocking to the fields, I honestly think it has to do with a sixth sense and those of us listening are responding to what the earth is suggesting we do.

I would love to be out of my city shoebox apartment by this summer, and if you feel that way too and are in a position to get to know each other and move off grid hit me up!
