Hello from New Orleans, Louisiana!

I have been searching for months for groups, forums, or any band of misfits in Louisiana actively working their farm / homestead who is in need of a volunteer to help on their property.

Bit about me, eager beaver ready to learn, born in New Orleans, left for Air Force, lived in Illinois for 10 years, and returned home in 2013. Currently knee deep in 10 year plan to own property and turn into a homestead (exploring small business options on property).

With an eager beaver attitude and desire to personally meet like-minded folks, I am seeing historical posts averaging a few times a year on this site but no real traction of consistent local groups connecting in person or via Meetup and Facebook.

Anyone already started a consistent group that I can tag along to or would like some additional help promoting to achieve consistency?

I work full-time at an office but have 4 hours per week available in my schedule to help promote anything you have started or provide an extra set of hands to take care of chores.

Hi Austin and Louisiana Fam! Newbie to permaculture. Looking at land in Abita Springs also and being a helping hand where I can for the experience. Would like to transition from my desk job in the next ten years and retire to my own piece of land that I would have been built up. Moving next month to a rental property in Piegeon Town. Work downtown New Orleans full-time.

Hello again Marianne, side note. If you are in need of a laborer, please feel welcome to reach out. I work a full-time office job in a Louisiana but would use my vacation time in a heartbeat to work on your property.

WOW Marianne! If only I had the money. I am in one of those transitional chapters of life (like many of us at 40 lol) and ready to to get dirt under my nails and build a home to look like this. Had I known at 20 years old a place like yours could be possible to purchase one day, my savings plan would have been COMPLETELY different lol. Sending love and well wishes of the right investor / community of people are able to step in. Have you written a letter to Geoff Lawton? This looks like something up his alley.
