I helped out on a homestead with a whole lot of clay in the area. I never got the chance to try growing peanuts, which I hear would do really well there. I did get a chance to mix up the clay with sawdust and some ashes... it does pretty well with a little bit of compost on top.

If the ingredients are biodegradable and safe, pH balance should be the only concern when using gray water for irrigation

Hi everyone!

I was going to post this in the Experiences section, but it seems better to post this in the region where I am looking.

I'm currently looking at farms/communities in NorCal for a long-term stay. After Wwoof'ing for a bit and doing 2-6 month stints, I'm looking to settle down on some land where I can see my work take hold and grow through several seasons. I left office life over five years ago and have worked on several different types of farms including mushroom, vegetable, dairy, and meat. I want to be at a place where I can feel free to work as hard as I can with the knowledge that I'll be around to see the fruits of my labor.

I pride myself with getting along with as many people as possible, but I'm happiest in any environment where the religion or politics aren't a constant focal point of discussion. I appreciate knowledge, but respect wisdom and my goal is always to turn the former into the latter. I'm an omnivore, and I prefer to be in an area where I can either keep hens or at least trap small game.

I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever that loves people and rural life. She's very well-trained (I used to train dogs) and gets along with just about every type of animal you'll find on a farm. Her list of references are probably even better than my own!

Anyway, please DM me if you'd like to start a dialog and I can send you my references/resume with more details about my work experience.

Thank you!

(cavetime - that time you need to recharge after interacting with humans)

I tend to find one person in the group to be my "social champion" and they sort of act as my liaison to the group. It really helps to lift the burden of explaining yourself over and over again and helps you not come off as a jerk.
