I partially agree with the "no direct sunlight" advice. Some succulents need full sun, but only after
slowly acclimatizing them, of course. Too much sun from the getgo can cause burns on their leaves.
As for watering, it's difficult to give a generic advice because it totally depends on where you live and time of the year. This post sums it up nicely about watering succulents the right way -
