Hi LoonyK,

I'm new to the board (and am really enjoying the education and reading).  I have "mom" advice for you too.....wait!! wait!!...don't delete yet

It seems like you live in a rural area, and I can relate to that since I grew up in Oklahoma, so I know some ideas just don't work in your geographical area...(you've probably grown up with or met all the girls there are too meet), but I'll throw out a couple of things:
1)  After the PDC class last summer a few of us got together and initiated "Permablitz's."  Some permies in Australia first came up with the idea.  What we did was take one person's permaculture project, set a date--a Saturday usually, and people would show up to work and learn togeter;  we'd have a potluck, learn some stuff, and have a lot of fun.  It was popular with people in your age group.  You could maybe host some of these----build a cob oven (for some reason, girls think that's really sexy), etc.  You might at least meet some people who would share your interests---if not, all is not lost......you'd get some projects done and have a great time.  Anyway, you can see what we did with Permablitzes here:  www.dfwpermaculture.ning.com  or google it, and you'll come up with the Aussie's take on it.
2)  What about moving out at least for a while?  How far from town are you?  Could you rent an apartment or little house there (and still work on your folks' place) ....even if you had a roommate, it might be a good move.  I recently went to visit my 23-yr-old son who is working and living in Ecuador, and it's really cool how he has his own habits and routines, and not follwoing everything handed down from his parents.  I learned a lot from him!  Anyway, something like that may do quite a bit for you and your lovelife. Wayne Weiseman will be in Ft. Worth, TX to teach the PDC.  It will be facilitated in two long weekends in April and May.  I took this course last year, and really enjoyed it and learned a lot.  http://www.dfwpermaculture.com/

The Former-HS Prom Queen,

Hi Ken,

I’m a naturally blonde haired, blue eyed beauty from Texas—yes, I put the *sthizzle* in hot!  Of course, I’m not as smart as you, and if I told you I was, it would prove I wasn’t ….so we’ll just leave it at that.

The first part of my 47 years was spent in the oil and farm land of rural Oklahoma where I developed a huge appreciation for and honed my skills of assessing men’s self-proclaimed awesome power tools.  (I found that many really should learn how to read a User’s Manual…)  It's also where I watched the growing of fruits, vegies, and learned the art of playing outside.

I’ve owned a cleaning business for 17 years— and have settled into a place of not pushing the business too hard, so I can spend my time dabbling in the many things that have added “Enigma” to my many titles. For example, I like to listen to a wide variety of music (I currently am enjoying a band called One Eskimo---but may need some Vivaldi this evening), cultivating my desire to be a permaculturist (I’ve decimated one bin of worms, but HAVE grown a few things out back!  I help my friends a lot, and excel at the art of sheet mulching); I play around with 5 Rhythms Dance, and study and hang out occasionally with raw foodies.  Oh--I did a 13.5 muddy, slushy, trail run last weekend, and like to fit in a nice hike as often as possible.

Lunch sounds good (as long as it’s from your garden and you treat me like a queen).

The Entrepreneur
--------------------------------

I’m a 47-year old, divorced, mother of two grown children who are off gathering their own adventures.  This leaves me time to pursue the endeavor of figuring out how to battle the current state of the nation that we reside in.  I employ about 40 people who dash around in a fleet of my co. cars to provide top-notch Green Cleaning to over 500 regular customers in the Dallas area.  I’ve been running the numbers to determine whether growth of the business is worth it---or perhaps it’s better to just find a lil’ patch of space someplace to grow lettuce and beets and live blissfully.

While I’ve been complimented on my physical attractiveness and overall energy flow, I have these past couple of years, focused my energies on exploring and discovering other areas that have not included a man at the center of my universe.   So now, I’m better prepared to meet someone with a full resume of self-discovery.

Regards,
Angela

I really hate online dating things, and quit cold turkey five years ago, but I figure a permie site couldn’t be too harmful, and I’m sure there’s nothing but truth and sincerity here.  And you know, EVERYthing’s done via internet now!

I’m totally fine being alone, but think it might be fun to have someone to occasionally learn from and share things with---someone that can understand and appreciate my quirkiness.   I will admit, I miss laughing….the last guy I dated never got my sense of humor (which was really funny---eh--for a while)

So, “Hello Ken.”  No pressure here.  You sound like a fun guy that I might enjoy forumming with (did I mention I make up words?).

I just found and have not learned this forum, and don’t really do geeky stuff too well.  I  looked for you on facebook (to no avail….can you give more details?)   You can friend me at Angela McCall, Plano, TX.  ((and if you’re not Ken, but are the curious type, you’re invited as well---y’know, fb seems to be a party nowadays!  I'm not age or gender biased.))

Happy Spring to You All,
~angela
