Spring seeds, I use Bachelor's Buttons.  I prefer the blue personally, but the come in a rainbow of blues, pinks, and rose color in a multi-color mix.
They eat the seeds so well that there are never any left to fall to the ground and sprout.  Likewise with my summer flower, Cosmos, they ride, bobbing on the dried flower heads feasting on the seeds.
i also feed nyjer thistle, but the finches do decimate green bean and sunflower leaves by eating the green between the viens on the leaves, no it's not a bug: it's the finches.  However, someone said it is a lack of water.  I am trying a bird bath of water to see if it helps.

it is less expensive per ounce in the 16 oz size but then it is a larger, up-front cost.

Consider your predators.  I was going to have a carport with heavy pallet walls.  Then, I realized we have cougars that do come down from the mountains. One time, 3 houses away.  If a hunter wants to take a cougar, he told me he puts out a baby goat that is yelling for it's mom.  The cougar will come.  I did not use a noisy breed like a Nubian.  The barn had concrete chunks buried under the walls, placed before we built. Nothing could dig in.  Likewise, the venting had rebar pieces.  The windows were at 8 feet which is reachable for a cougar jumping but it couldn't get in because of the rebar behind the screen.

I picked a goat that is quiet except for when in heat- Toggenburg goats.   Even tho a cougar was 3 doors down, nothing led the cougar to the goats.  Also, consider the noise level of the breed especially if you have troublesome neighbor.  We did 5 foot cyclone fencing for everyday at the barn, which the goats were never able to get out of, and only when we were there did they go into the field while we cut firewood, or downed limbs, and could watch.

I am growing a rose apple successfully:

Goat supplement often has copper, and copper kills sheep.  Sheep cannot feed on the goat supplement

Goats eat bark.  Anything you want to save esp. trees, fence.

Goats are escape artists.  If you go with electric fencing, use 7 joules.  They will test to see if it's on.

and you have a mortgage with Chase, you realize how Chase views  the government seizing property.  Not looking good to have someone holding your mortgage with
such a fast and loose idea of people losing property rights to fund a government.

Worse yet, in California, home insurance companies leaving the market in droves.  The (name-less) insurance company cancelled ours.  I start looking. I look for 3 months ,
Just on the 3rd month and the old insurance was ending, I was able to get insurance.  PHEW!
However, What would it mean to NOT get home owner's insurance mean to our Chase mortgage?

Our home is prime for foreclose  because we have only 1/14 of the loan to our massive property value.   It would be so easy for the bank to sell our home making
it more valuable to foreclose on.   We have checked how much money we have and  taking every cent we own, we can pay off our home and save ourselves from Chase if this insurance also cancels again.
Why pay off your loan?  Stress, this is too damn stressful that a bank might be able to sell our home from lack of home owner's insurance.

You pay it off : a bank that doesn't honor property rights ,insurance companies who can cancel , and the risk of foreclosure when you did NOTHING WRONG
is more than enough reason to pay off a mortgage!

Borrowing land to make a Permaculture lifestyle means you may not be able to continue when they develop it.
Eldercare can be a loving, but  taxing time commitment.
