isn't the simple solution to have a generator as backup?

I have had Lyme.  There is an herbal remedy called LB Core Protocol from Green Dragon Botanical that I found to be very helpful.  There is also thinking that the bacteria that cause Lyme symptoms have been around for a long time, and it's worth investigating the stressors in your life that have suppressed your immune system so that it is struggling with it.   I ended up removing (via dentist)  all the amalgam fillings I had and learning a lot of different healing modalities like EFT  (Emotional Freedom Technique)    and the Emotion Code (Bradley Nelson)  to reduce my underlying emotional stress load.   I also quit eating gluten and started eating meat again according to the book Eat Right 4 Your type.    These days,  I do the  5 Tibetans exercises  every day as well as the Wim Hof method to keep all my systems humming.  I never took antibiotics for it because it was already Chronic Lyme by the time I figured out what it was, and antibiotics only seem to do more good than harm,  from what I've read,  if taken at first onset.    It took me 6 months of multiple simultaneous approaches before I had most of my function back.  I am grateful for what I learned in the process,  mostly about handling stress.    I hope the antibiotics work for you.

I don't have a link.   I'm not quite sure yet how this works.   I tried to reply while I was on the thread but couldn't for some reason.  I will try to find it again.
I wanted to respond to the thread about depression and anxiety, and this is my first time, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.   I appreciate and agree with much of what was said already, and have a few things to add.   Sometimes depression and anxiety can be affected by the food we eat.  Something to try might be to cut out alcohol,  sugar, gluten and dairy for a month and see what happens.   The effect can be profoundly positive if you can stick with it.   A good resource and more information about this is from Kelly Brogan who wrote the book "A mind of your own".   Another thing is the Wim Hof method.  Wim Hof is an amazing guy who holds a lot of world records, but has also overcome depression and his technique is super empowering.  A good intro might be the Vice documentary on you tube called "Becoming Superhuman with Wim Hof"   Another thing,  for Anxiety in particular is the Meridain Tapping Technique,   which is similar to EFT but a little more streamlined and better suited to anxiety IMO.  It can be used to break the link between an anxiety producing thought and that awful antsy feeling in the body,  so that it is easier to just let that thought pass.   I will try to attach a pdf of how to do MTT.   I have used, and continue to use,  all of the above things.  Wim Hof and the diet are part of my daily life.  MTT is as needed.  (not much anymore)
Hi Paul,   I have been browsing the permies site for a few days now and wanted to express my appreciation.   I especially loved the independent/consensus/dictatorship  essay.  I love how self-reflective you are, and how clearly and authentically you express yourself.   I also appreciate the wealth of information and positive tone in the various threads.   I am learning a lot and  I am inspired and refreshed.   I wrote a book a few years ago to share cognitive and energetic tools I have gathered from other sources and use to avoid leaking energy (squandering spoons).  If you give me an appropriate email address, I can attach a pdf and if you (or your team) think it would be useful, I can send you some hard copies.   Thank you for trailblazing a path toward a better world.  I can be contacted at johanna_messer@ yahoo.com if you would like me to send books.   -Johanna
Hello everyone,  I'm excited to have found your site.  I have an off grid property that I have been restoring and I am super interested in raised bed gardens and rocket mass heaters.  Also designing and building small cabins that can be relocated as a way of making homesteading more accessible.    I'm thinking of using agricultural panels/cattle panels for roof  support structure  (as in Conestoga huts for homeless in Eugene, OR   and cattle panel greenhouses,   and home made foam panels for walls (coating foam insulation panels with glue and canvas and then painting them to protect)  as are being used in foamie trailers.   So a kind of modiified SIP panel.
Solarex (greenhouse material) for light penetration.   I'm aiming for something more insulated and durable than a wall tent,  that can be set up in about 1 day without a lot of equipment, expertise or heavy lifting and then taken down and moved to a new location if needed. With all of the materials being reusable.   Also not very expensive.  It's not a purist approach, but it might be a way to get started on a different kind of life.   I  first heard of you from my friend Jim Juczak.   I have Jenkins style composting toilets and am starting to explore the urine diverting kind.   Thank you for being here.  I'm excited that there's so much to learn.  -Johanna
