Hello everyone,  I'm excited to have found your site.  I have an off grid property that I have been restoring and I am super interested in raised bed gardens and rocket mass heaters.  Also designing and building small cabins that can be relocated as a way of making homesteading more accessible.    I'm thinking of using agricultural panels/cattle panels for roof  support structure  (as in Conestoga huts for homeless in Eugene, OR   and cattle panel greenhouses,   and home made foam panels for walls (coating foam insulation panels with glue and canvas and then painting them to protect)  as are being used in foamie trailers.   So a kind of modiified SIP panel.
Solarex (greenhouse material) for light penetration.   I'm aiming for something more insulated and durable than a wall tent,  that can be set up in about 1 day without a lot of equipment, expertise or heavy lifting and then taken down and moved to a new location if needed. With all of the materials being reusable.   Also not very expensive.  It's not a purist approach, but it might be a way to get started on a different kind of life.   I  first heard of you from my friend Jim Juczak.   I have Jenkins style composting toilets and am starting to explore the urine diverting kind.   Thank you for being here.  I'm excited that there's so much to learn.  -Johanna

Welcome Johanna!  As a fellow off grid, raised bed, rocket mass heater, Jenkins style toilet guy I think you'll find this a great community to be a part of as we share and learn all sorts of related things!

Johanna, welcome to Permies! You have a lot of interesting ideas and projects going on. I'm sure we'll learn just as much from you as you learn from us. :)
