Is this open to people from outside the US?  Would we have to get a green card? (sorry for my ignorance of US working and immigration).

I'm in the UK and the opportunity sounds idylic.  It's so hard to get this sort of thing off the ground here

I also watched that video a while ago and it inspired me to build my own rocket stove that worked really well.

I think you might be missing a gap on one of the sides to allow air in which will cause the fire to burn hotter, but will burn up the sticks a bit faster so you might need a few more on hand.
