Biography
Hello! I have a hopeful future in a permaculture homestead-village combo. I know a little about a lot, and nothing is labeled correctly in my brain. I have situational recall and sometimes just go HEY! I know how to do this!

My compost pile is my baby.

I've picked up  mending out of need. Socks are easy to come by, but my favorite thrifted tunics are not. This one is going threadbare, but I find myself clinging to the scrap like a child with a blanket, and fixing it as I have time.

I really enjoy using these small batch silk threads on this tunic. The weight is variable, but most work fine for this tunic. I use whatever needles are closest within reach at the given time. And an an embroidery hoop (not shown here) if it proves useful.

Here I am getting started at whatever point feels right in my soul.

One small bit done-ish. It never feels done though.

Much more finished! Though I am sure it will give me more spots to mend in the near future.

Hydro all the way. I've always been in love with the idea of being near some moving water source and maybe rigging up an old world saw mill or other such wonderful nonsense. I think the science people also found that humans get a great mental boost when being near water! Plus, the sound of wind turbines, in my experience, has been a pain in the butt. I'd rather listen to a river any day

Animal issues, hands down. Though maybe that will change once I have a proper (larger) garden going. I know all the small scale gardens I've built ALWAYS have bug issues and I am not a fan of things that crunch or squish as I go removing them. I've seen some really cool garden fencing solutions that grow food for the animals outside of the fence to deter them from coming for the human-consumption areas. I read about one where they planted clover and other things to keep the rabbits fat and happy away from the inner rows.

I can shoo deer away. Tomato horn worms and other such crawlies just menace me until I give up and beg the wasps to come help.

Like many, I try not to take anything home that isn't natural anymore. Not only does the texture make for sensory hell, but its just bad for the environment. A project is better than the landfill though, so there is that. I was lucky and got (basically free) an entire tote of wool cones, cakes, and skeins. It was a steal. So I taught myself some basic knitting and I'm making a huge comforter for myself.

Thanks for the suggestion Harmony! It actually looks like a really cool system. I’ll be taking a dive into reading a couple of the threads.

Howdy folks. I'm Bryn, and I'm born and raised in Texas, sadly. Since I cant quite make a mad dash for the snow, im doing what I can while the weather is cool-ish. (Summer absolutely MELTS me.)

My compost pile is my baby! I've loved watching it grow, and meeting all the bugs and worms. Currently my mom and I are building a raised bed and I'm tickled pink. I've learned how to use both a chainsaw and circular saw in the process.

I've been growing random things as the compost pile gets flipped and moved around. Potatoes, some lettuce, a random bit of celery that regrew from a chopped end.

I'm working within the bounds of a backyard, generally having a good time seeing improvements in the areas I've put my labor to. Picking up more building and outdoor maintenance skills. Good stuff.

Cheers for being able to work outside and cooler weather!
