Hello
I’d like to be in touch with this group, in case you moved communication elsewhere, and also because this is the top result when googling “permaculture game” hahah
I had some suggestions for your consideration as well:
While I understand the energy brought by the imagination of building a very realistic simulator of something important for society like permaculture (I’m energized by the ideas myself) and by the prospect of making such a simulation fun and widespread, let me try to have you see the importance of iteratively building something that more directly tries to solve a situation in society. What I mean by that is that, as you may know, the health of soils is in rapid decline in the whole world. With an estimated 60 years left of organic content in soil at the pace we are going (in the best case), the whole world would heavily benefit from a large scale shift in the manner we treat the land, to ensure food for all, water storage, large carbon storage in soil, and ensuring a living place for most life. A potential way to achieve this is to enshrine public policies that ensure this change happens, initially with incentives and then as needed. Whatever way we try go about it, it will need widespread understanding of why this is important, so that whatever work any group does is understood and supported by most people.
I also want to focus not just on the importance of the issue, but on the capacity we as humans have to change ourselves to be capable of being joyful no matter the situation we are involved in. This, to me, is the greatest possible freedom one can aim for, and while it may not be obvious or easy at the start, there are methods to do this and people very willing to share the methods. I mention it because a given “change of plans” may not sit well with people sometimes. But let’s think about it: if we really want the world to change, we should be the first to show them how to.
In conclusion, if we focus on a single idea (example: we need to bring awareness about soil health to a large audience in an engaging manner) instead of on a final product, we can organize every step that we do towards that idea, and every other decision, like scope, finances, etc. will be much easier to do. This change in focus may inform a first decision to look at the resources available and do a very small product that still goes in direction of the idea. And so on.
Hope you catch my drift.
I’m happy to keep helping.
