Hey!
Nice posts, thanks for all the information so far!
I'm planning my house with a RMH in it. I'm very excited about underground heating instead of the bench as the mass. I have some questions:
1. I'm very uncertain about heights here. My goal would be to be able to have all parts at the same floor, but will it be possible for the exhaust to go below the level of the burning chamber and the bottom of the barrel? I was still thinking about, that I could have a regular J-tube, and for being able to run the exhaust under the floor, the vertical middle of the burning chamber becomes the very same level with the floor.
2. There was a discussion about turns lower the length of the exhaust pipe, but also if the chimney is close to the heat riser, it helps the smoke to go out. So which one is better overall? Having a dozen of thin straight pipes with a chimney at some distance, or have a half dozen of thin pipes turning back near to the heat riser?
3. Also, I'm thinking about an oven. It would be on the side of the burning chamber, but its bottom would be the same as the floor, so vertically half of their walls would be common. I'd put some thermal glass on both sides: a door outside to be able to open it as an oven, and another one that can be moved to the side. Normally it would be closed, so the oven doesn't soak heat from the system, but still the fire is visible. If I want to bake, I just slide the glass, and let the oven get hot.
What do you think?
