...just so you know... that " hay " you bought as straw is not a common phenomenon... EVER... Straw in its only form will never have seeds within... it just does not. That is the primary reason strawbale homes use this medium as there are zero seeds to attract mice and other rodents..the hollow shafts from typically oats provides the insulating qualities.

The only time you may find mold/rot within straw is it was left outside which is never the case for a true farmer as they also use this grand product to bed their cattle and other critters to help keep them warm... the last thing they need or want is vermin in their livestock...

If it were me I'd pull it all out and get the real deal...I'm sorry you were flim flammed...

I , a few months ago,  stopped in the th NYS Fire Science Academy in Montour Falls with hopes of helping to  make folks aware of the RMH. I was informed that the building will be  under a complete renovation.. inside and out to the  tune of $10mm for the next two years .. and was asked if one could heat the facility... it is six floors with multiple wings...I stated that it would take more than one to heat it....
...is this something the lab would be interested in supplying a partial heat source for this facility..
  They train Fire Fighters from all over the state...

I was thinking fliers ... but an actual one or two+ would be an awesome  media buzz.... thoughts?

I'd like to add my two cents as it has not been broached... check to ensure your heating system is ready to go.. no matter what it is, think of preparing that one item first.. will it heat the whole home with no power? Are there multiple backups? Do you only use wood? Is there enough to use as a primary instead only as only as a pretty ambiance occasionally? Is it a geothermal? They have a separate 200amp system usually which I would think would render it useless unless you have lots of backup petrol for that alone.

How volunerable are your water lines? Are they insulated or heated? Are they wrapped with heat tape? Does it need replacing?

Try looking into the various types of Aspen. They grow in clusters because their roots also create shoots, etc., etc... Eventually you'll have a rather large grove of trees...   There are some other types, hybrids, that grow over 5 feet each year. . .as another option...

Your idea of using Black Locust is admirable. However, just know this species is now on the same  list as the Ash, Elm and others that have contracted a foreign bug of doom. Here in upstate  NY it has been evidenced all summer where the leaves of these trees started turning brown in early June, ...much earlier than the typical fall season. Best of luck..

Get the congress and senate on a fact finding mission to visit the lab for a 3 to 4 day, "fact finding mission", to see, feel for themselves this, " new "old technology"...for laws, noise, news about what our country needs to do to save our futures. Get them on board ...it will fly....

I've received permies dailyish for almost 2 years thats why it confused the bejeepers outa me??!!?!?

I added positive info on the recent hot tub thread but, had to re-do my permies daily subscription prior to acceptance to post???!!??? Will I now recieve double/duplicate/more than one of same emails?
