That sounds strange!

We do require that if people post to permies that they accept the monthlyish email.  If people don't want to receive the monthlyish email, then they need to close their account, which keeps them from posting.

And now that I am reading this, I should say "I require this" instead of "we".  It's me.

But, rather than me traveling down that whole road ....      could this be the thing you are bumping into?

I just ran into this, too.

It might be because I typed out my reply not realising I wasn't signed in. When I hit submit, I had to log in, and that's when it asked me to sign up. Normally I log in before posting something.

Yup, that's what it is. I submitted my last post while I wasn't logged in and was asked to sign up for the dailyish again.

I've had the odd weird thing happen here on permies - particularly when part way through something forgetting I wasn't signed in - over the many years I've been a member.

However, for the record, the *only* time I've had duplicate emails has been when either Gir Bot or the Bulkmailer, were having bad days. The Bulkmailer sends out the dailyish and the monthlyish and very occasionally it gets hung up and has to be re-started which results in some of the list getting a dailyish twice. Considering other organizations I gave up on due to that sort of issue, I've found Permies incredibly reliable and responsible. Most of the time, things just work!

I can remember the bit about "have to be signed up for the dailyish" pop-up and asking way back when, but even though the pop-up can't figure it out, the system as a whole has always figured out that I already am signed up and I don't get duplicates.
