Biography
Hello all!
I've always been drawn to nature and the "old way" of doing things. I spent the first decade of my adult life screaming "I DONT BELONG HERE!"
Lo and behold plenty of other people were out there looking for a different way to live too.
After taking the amazing opportunity to sell our suburban home and disappear 5 hours into the middle of nowhere, we have a smallish modern house thats falling apart a little, a shed coop with 1-2 dozen chcikens and five acres on which to play, experiment and slowly figure it all out.
I'm an artist attempting to make that a bigger part of my life and I'm hoping someday these 5 acres will grow most of what we need.

Hopefully figuring this out...
Working on getting my art out into the world. Art EVERY day seems like one of those unattainable goals. Stuff happens, sometimes the muse departs for a week, etc. I will be content if I can make some new art a few times every week. I like to sketch, paint, play with clay and digitally manipulate regular photos and photos of handmade art. I'd love to cheer others on and share some of mine along the way 😊

Very new to these concepts but excited to do a world class slow and gentle slip and slide esque dive into this world.
My wife and I are moving in 17 days to a smaller house on 5 acres in Central Maine. The property comes with a handful of mature but neglected apple trees, some overgrown grape Vines and wild berry bushes of some variety, as well as a private pond, reportedly once stocked with trout.
Landing in early October means most of our focus is going to center on making sure our heating systems are functional and adequate and also stocking our pantry to make sure we can get by if we're snowed in.
After that the wife will be working remotely (after installing the Starlink system) and I will be working part time to supplement but mainly focusing on tasks around the soon to be homestead. I will do repairs and prep foods and plan maniacally for the coming of spring.
On our small suburban plot we had already acquired 4 Chickens that will be making the move with us, as well as grown a small garden and even gave tapping trees and making syrup a try. We are going to be totally overwhelmed by this massive change of life, but also hope to be set free.
I look forward to learning so much here on this site!
