I just found this site today. I admit that it is a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to navigate it but I’ll cut to the chase. I’d like to integrate as many native species food sources as possible on my 1 acre wooded lot. I’m struggling with figuring out what to grow as I am completely surrounded by woods and there are no locations that get full sun for more than a couple of hours. I am in West TN and have ordered a PawPaw tree and a couple of Persimmon trees. Will fruit trees produce in a woodland environment? I remember harvesting blackberries as a child in blackberry thickets but those were near to open fields. Is it possible to create a food forest in a true forest? I did have a small area of trees cleared for a spot to put my tiny house cabin but sunlight is in short supply. I welcome advice on resources, planning, conferences, groups, ect that might be able to assist me.
