In the general area of Charlottesville VA just east of the Blue Ridge/Appalachian Trail.
This is a tribe of people seeking to leave the world system/society and live on the land. The intent is to greatly reduce the need to use money/currency to obtain life-essential resources. The intent is to work hard to earn a long and prosperous life on the land. This is not a path of least resistance because there is a lot of work to be done to achieve these goals. This is not a place for loafers or the entitled collectivist type.
We are offering a tent site in exchange for garden help. There is ample and excellent drinking water from a solar deep well. There is a community bathroom with hot showers and flush toilets. Ice blocks generated from an off-grid freezer will be provided for your cooler. There is a quiet rural setting with little drama. There is some seasonal produce to help feed yourself.
The minimum work expectation is 2.5 hours per day 6 days per week during morning hours. The work is in an all-natural spray-free garden and food forest. You will earn a share of what is seasonally available for personal use. The value of what we offer is in the work experience itself. Any less work would really not be meaningful to anyone because the reality is that work is required for this lifestyle. The intention is to share knowledge, skill and experience within systems that are already working and producing. There is other work and projects but gardening is the foundation of this approach. The work is mostly mulching and weeding with some harvesting and planting in a year-round garden.
There is an additional intent of finding other members of the tribe that would like to purchase a smaller portion of land within a larger parcel that would be collectively purchased. The smaller parcels would be deeded and personally owned. The intent is a local village of personal small-scale homesteads cooperating as interdependent yet independent neighbors. This would be best achieved by a group that has vetted each other enough to trust and like each other enough to cooperatively and effectively work together on the longer term. This is not an active situation but would be intended for the future when a critical mass of people has been reached.
