Hello, My name is Stephen Palmer. My wife and I have been wanting to live sustainably and live a more earth connected life for many years. We almost moved to a North Carolina homestead several years ago however we were not truly physically ready for such a transition. Since then we have exercised often to prepare ourselves, we hike, go to the gym and eat only whole foods. We have started gardening at home as well as we have been looking at properties to purchase and turn into a farm. Along our research on building our own farm I got to thinking about communities like this as an option again. We already live as sustainable as possible while still being connected to corporate American life. We would be open to the possibility of joining your community. We also would enjoy and be more than willing to clear our own area, and build our own living quarters if this is possible and/or necessary, even after a few years living as a full member.
I have worked in carpet & Aluminum factories, Worked as a landscaper for 4 years doing all kinds of different landscape duties, worked as a cook in a couple restaurants, my father is a senior engineer and a mechanic, my brother is a life long electrician of which I have learned from both of them and worked as an electrician on low voltage home electricity. I maintenance all my own vehicles except for engine and transmission work. I grew up in rural north Georgia, spent many months on friend's farms helping out. My wife and I have a garden, hike, work out, and exercise daily. I cut down trees and log them when necessary for my family and hers. I fix everything I can instead of buying new things. I have done everything from plumbing, carpentry, metal work, and some light concrete work. I have some technical and computer skills. We both look forward to contributing in every way possible to further foster the integrity and health of the community. My wife is an excellent cook, she is also well versed in inventory management, as she managed a 7-11 for 7 years. Currently she manages a Boot store.
We believe in limiting consumption of consumer goods where possible, being as healthy and sustainable as possible. We enjoy open non bias intellectual conversation about any subject. We are not religious or overtly politically minded however. We believe in being good people to those around us and we wish to live in more harmony with nature.  We want to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
