Nancy, I would do a "test" to check any old bean seeds we had.  Using 10 seeds makes the math easy, wrap the seeds in some damp paper, place them into a plastic bag, set somewhere warm and start checking for any sprouts in the three or four days, if no sign after about 10 days, forget trying to plant those seeds!!

I would also "test" any off site material given to us for garden use.  Prepare a few small cups with the material and drop a fresh green bean seed into each.  Wait for the plants to appear, observe the overall plant growth, any of the "forever" chemicals in the off site material will show very stunted growth patterns.

Ahhhh, my friend, I've felt the pain a few times in my life too.  It has been many years since the last one. I do hope it was indeed the last one!!!

You can understand why kidney strikes are taught in some hand to hand combat classes.

I do hope this will "pass" very soon for you.

Sausage and hash browns with onion, garlic, bell peppers and celery.  Along with a small serving of arugula and a splash of lemon juice.  And as a treat after the day's toilet of leaf removal a small bowl of fried golden delicious apples with cinnamon ( no sugar added).  There is a small plate in the fridge with the leftovers !!!

The house kind of smells like a home tonight.

If you can't eat em, grind the beans for the critters.  Or give the twenty or so pounds to someone that has pigs and or chickens, they can grind the beans for their animals.

PS - have you checked to see if these beans will spout???

The only thing I've not seen posted is the addition of creek sand to the carrot growing beds.  I also would place the seeds as thin as possible and use the edge of the board to lightly press in the tiny seeds into contact with the soil.  Water well and then cover with the rough cut board and wait!!!  Some years it would take weeks for any to appear.

I did not save seed from the carrots, I bought fresh seed for each year, Danvers or Nantes and from bio-dynamic growers.  And always had fair to good results, except for the spacing thing.  Some years here in zone 7 we did not pull our carrots, just covered them with leaves and straw for the winter.

I hope you will keep trying, as there is nothing in the stores like home grown carrots!!!

I would try both.  Trim the root ball back by no more than a third and replant into a larger pot and use a new support.  I've rooted Monstera in the past and they tend to do well for me.  I can't see any "air"roots along the stem, if there are any you have hit the jackpot, those sections of the stem will root in water very fast.  Take a cutting that has at least one node and leaf on the stem and you will have a good chance of rooting another plant.

Anne, this sounds like something that I might use.  Cooking for one I need something smaller than most would consider using.  My only question is about the clean up, easy? somewhat hard? real pain in the major point of contact???

Your chicken dish did sound very good!

OK Chris, I've gotta ask - what in the name of blue blazing peaches is a "peep"  I think I remember some sponge-like candy stuff we would place in our girls Easter baskets long ago.  Other than that I have no idea.

I'm mostly just kidding, just hoping to make a few people smile on this overcast day.

Best of luck to you in your search.

Heddwch (I guess I'm learning Welsh in my old age)

I gain a small handful of charcoal for my bio tub each morning, when cleaning out the Liberator stove.  I have not yet built any kind of mass along the sides to store any heat but I do close the two air 4 inch intakes once it reaches the coal stage.
