Places to do SKIP

Thank you, neighbor! I'm wondering if there's a more up to date list one could explore? This one is dated 2018.
Thank each of you for your prompt offers and insights!

I should probably update the post to add that my family is in the beginning stages of learning how to navigate an alternative lifestyle and we are a group of special needs/neurodivergent folks on the autistic spectrum.
So ideally our first experience would be in a community that's hybrid-offgrid and  located relatively close to certain amenities and healthcare (or that can offer in-house holistic care).

So which sort of wood to use?

Googling comes back to say cherry is the best. What? A week ago we learned that every part of a cherry tree is toxic except for the actual fruit. It seems that cherry would be a really bad choice.

More googling ... cherry, cherry and cherry.

So confused ....

I would guess apple or alder or maple would be the best.

Anybody know about wood varieties for use with food?

What a fun topic! I'm organizing a skillswap locally and had a guy to sign up for "kolrosing", an ancient Viking form of decorating wooden objects. The sample pics he sent me showed decorated spoons. The wood appeared to be a soft pine. But I could be very wrong since I know nothing of the craft!

ISO a SKIP or other aligned opportunity to house and nurture my family while benefiting a community or land owner/guardian.
Family of 4 adults with 5 🐶 ( 3 chihuahuas, one mini-terrier mix, one mid-sized rescue/hound. They're our family!)
Family (hoomans) is comprised of myself- a single mother with Appalachian roots and tireless passion for anti-establishment lifestyle. Three young adults on the neurodivergent spectrum.
We're currently in SE/Central KY, but we're currently throwing darts at a map. So don't hesitate to reach out if you've got a project that might be up our alley. We prefer to stay in the Appalachias with strong developing interest in PA, but open to most opportunities. Happy to expound more on our values, ethics, and capacity to contribute, upon request. Excited and grateful for the chance to integrate into this community!
