ISO a SKIP or other aligned opportunity to house and nurture my family while benefiting a community or land owner/guardian.
Family of 4 adults with 5 🐶 ( 3 chihuahuas, one mini-terrier mix, one mid-sized rescue/hound. They're our family!)
Family (hoomans) is comprised of myself- a single mother with Appalachian roots and tireless passion for anti-establishment lifestyle. Three young adults on the neurodivergent spectrum.
We're currently in SE/Central KY, but we're currently throwing darts at a map. So don't hesitate to reach out if you've got a project that might be up our alley. We prefer to stay in the Appalachias with strong developing interest in PA, but open to most opportunities. Happy to expound more on our values, ethics, and capacity to contribute, upon request. Excited and grateful for the chance to integrate into this community!

Hi A. Smith,  Coweeta Heritage Center/Talking Rock Farm is looking for folks to help start up an Intentional community.  The land is off grid, private, surrounded by nature.  Just 4 miles from the nearest highway, but you might feel you are somewhere in paradise.  Coweeta has a well-established organic raised bed garden, pond for trout (none right now), sawmill and timber to build with, and so much more.  Just looking for the right folks to make a commitment to building community.  Coweeta is a drug, alcohol  and tobacco free environment. Coweeta, nestled in the woods of the Nantahalla Mountains, would be the perfect place for a retreat/healing center.  Please see my post here under  intentional community.

Ms. Smith I am going to send a PM or DM with my email. I've got 30 acres in South central Va and I like to talk. I've been looking for help on a share basis or simply free rent of a camper or campers in exchange for a couple days a week help around my homestead.  I am and have been off grid here for 16 years. Both my daughters grew up here and have now left home chasing their dreams.

Thank each of you for your prompt offers and insights!

I should probably update the post to add that my family is in the beginning stages of learning how to navigate an alternative lifestyle and we are a group of special needs/neurodivergent folks on the autistic spectrum.
So ideally our first experience would be in a community that's hybrid-offgrid and  located relatively close to certain amenities and healthcare (or that can offer in-house holistic care).

Thank you, neighbor! I'm wondering if there's a more up to date list one could explore? This one is dated 2018.

Check that one out again as it has been updated.  It was started 2018 though the last post was March 2024.

That list is updated as people post to the thread.  As you scroll down you see newer and newer responses, all of which should be in the main list at the top...

He's dead Jim. Grab his tricorder. I'll get his wallet and this tiny ad:
