I wanted to share a Central Texas property that may be of interest to folks looking for land where some of the foundational homestead systems are already in place.

The property is a little over nine acres in Cedar Creek, TX. It includes two separate living spaces: a 3 bedroom 1 bath main house and a 1 bedroom 1 bath guest house, for about 2,215 square feet total. The second dwelling has been useful for extended family, helpers, or temporary shared living while still allowing privacy.

Energy wise, the property has an existing solar system with three Tesla Powerwalls, along with newer HVAC and water heater systems. Windows have been upgraded as well. It’s not fully off-grid, but it does reduce dependence and provides backup power.

The land is fenced and cross-fenced and has sandy loam soil that’s been workable for gardens, pasture, and animals. There’s a wet-weather creek that runs through part of the property, and trails follow the creek corridor that are currently used for walking and riding. A pond is in progress and should add future water storage and habitat.

Food growing systems are already started, including a food forest area, irrigated garden beds, and sixteen wicking beds. There are poultry and small animal pens, plus a workshop with electric.

One feature that may interest community-minded folks is that there are three RV pads with water and 30/50 amp service. These have been used for temporary RV living and could work for visiting family, helpers, or cooperative homestead arrangements depending on individual goals and local use.

The location is rural but not isolated. It’s about 12 miles from Bastrop and within reasonable driving distance of South Austin.

Sharing this simply as an option for anyone looking in Central Texas who prefers land with some systems already in place rather than starting completely from scratch. Happy to answer general questions about the setup.

I was out showing property the other day to some clients and we looked at this property.  I didn't quite fit their needs but it really has the bones for something really nice for a small intential community.  There are two tiny homes and an RV spot now .  It is fenced.  There is already a chicken coop.  Room for some other small animal husbandry like goats.  And plenty of room to garden.  I would love to find just the right buyers for this property and work as their Buyers Representative.  If you like what you see and want to schedule an appointment reach out to me directly!  Deb 512-743-0516

Stunning wooded 19+/- acres in Gause TX which is just 1 hour from north Austin.  This property lends itself to multiple generation living or could be an intentional community!  It features a cabin with a loft, a compound with a 1 bed 1 bath barndo, an amry tent on a platform, covered rv parking and hook up.  There is a dome greenhouse and a hoop green house, two tiny cabins overlooking a pond, the beginning of a large steel shop ( all the steel is on site ) as well as the start of an earthbag building.  Set up for animal husbandry with chickens and milk goats.   The cabin was built by Larry Butler. He pioneered one of the first urban farms in the country, Boggy Creek Farm in East Austin. He has passed but he lived right next door and grew organic fruit and vegetables. This neighboring land remains in their family and they often still grow various organic produce. Larry milled local trees and salvaged materials from the surrounding town to build the cabin. This cabin reveals his craftsmanship and style and love. All who enter through the teal doors smile. The soulful vibes live on.   For more information on this property please contact me.

Hi MeggyMae.  I am a homesteading Realtor.  At a recent Exit and Build Land Summit held in Bastrop TX  I spoke a little bit about homesteading and real estate.  I also helped with a breakout session for people with homesteads/intentional communities looking for help and vice versa.  People got up and told a little about their situation.  I do have a list of who was looking for what and where.  Reach out to me and let me know your situation and maybe I can help you connect.

Have you found a place? I participated in the Exit and Build Land Summit in Bastrop TX put on by John and Rebecca Bush.  Derrek Broze  was one of the speakers  at the three day summit. I am a homesteading Realtor and I spoke, and I helped work a break out session where everyone who was looking for help on their homestead or looking to move to a homesteading property  took a few minutes to tell the audience what they were from and what they were looking for.  We created a list of contacts.  Feel free to email me ( contact information is atttached)  if you are still looking maybe I can help you connect.

I have a passion for sustainable living and homesteading. I am studying permaculture techniques.  I live on a small homestead property in Fayette County Texas and am developing a food forest on 3/4 acres of pasture land, I have horses, a donkey, and chickens, along with a large producing garden.  My husband has built alternative-style homes including our Earthship in Colorado, and I've helped numerous clients achieve their homesteading and alternative home real estate goals buying and selling.
