Hi! I bought 10 acres in Crook County Oregon thinking I was buying some kind of desert land. When it rained every week my first spring, I started to wonder wtf a "high desert" was. Its nothing, nine types of deserts & "high" is not one. High desert is a made-up term used in Central Oregon as a marketing ploy to sell the area as a warm retreat from the Willamette Valley.
