A stainless steel plate can be used as a reflector material. It can extend the life of a carbon steel baffle. Some of the heat from the wood will be reflected back on the fire aiding in burning the smoke. A burner tube from a propane grill across the baffle will enable secondary combustion if fed air from outside the stove. They are cheap and easy to get predrilled with tiny little holes. Try it stock and modify if needed.
