Hello - new to the permies forum. Our plans are to build a 700+ sqft off-grid timber frame-straw bale cabin. Currently in the design phase. Very interested in taking advantage of batch solar hot water system since we have a full-south facing property.
Any advice on these 2 questions:
1) Are passive solar batch hot water systems compatible with a plumbing system with a pressure tank? We will have a well with a solar well pump that will feed to the home structure going into a pressure tank. There will be a supply line feeding the solar batch water tank.
2) Can the thermosiphon effect move water below grade and then back up into a hot water storage tank over a distance of 10-15 feet? Or will this routing be subject to air locks as the water goes below grade and then steadily rises back up above grade inside the house?
Thank you.
