I mix up a quart of warm water with one tablespoon raw honey, one tablespoon apple cider vinegar, and a small pinch of sea salt. Offer it fresh for the first two days after hatch, then switch back to plain water. My chicks bounce back quick and I have not lost any since I started doing this.

Ducks can be a great addition to your pond! If you're worried about predators, the mobile coop idea could work, but you’ll need to train them to come back at night, which might take some time. As for breeds, it really depends on what you want. If you’re after something hardy and easygoing, maybe look into breeds like Khaki Campbell or Pekin. They’re also pretty good for eggs if that’s something you’re into. Just make sure your pond is safe for them, and you’ve got some shelter from predators!

For my rabbits, they love sunflower greens and raspberry leaves too. Growing timothy hay and microgreens works well for variety.

I also came across a method to make your own rabbit feed pellets. It’s cheaper, healthier, and lets you control the ingredients. You can mix different grains and veggies to create a balanced diet.

I toss in easy stuff like pumpkins, sunflowers, kale, and sweet potato vines. The hens go nuts for the seeds and greens. Duckweed works in a shallow tub if you keep the water warm and sunny. Azolla grows fine in a kiddie pool once it settles.

Moringa just needs heat and well‑drained soil so give it another shot earlier in the season. You can also seed clover or oats along the run for quick snacks. A few herbs like mint or oregano keep things fresh and smell nice too. Your flock will love the mix.

I prefer it too. It’s less work for me, and the chicks seem to do better being raised by their mom. It’s awesome watching them grow and integrate with the flock.

Sweet potatoes and pumpkins are great for your hens! Moringa can be tricky, but with enough sun and warmth, it’s worth another try.

Azolla is cool and grows well in shallow water containers. If you want more variety, try herbs like oregano or mint. Your hens will love the extras!

Chickens can eat hulled oats with the hulls on, but they may not digest the hulls well. They’ll likely pick at the seed and break it down.

If you’re worried, you can crush or roll the oats to make them easier to digest. Chickens have a more flexible diet than pigs, so they’ll be okay with the hulls.

Chickens love things like clover, kale, lettuce, and herbs like mint and oregano. You can also grow sunflowers or peas along the fence, they'll love pecking at the seeds.

Just make sure to avoid anything too toxic like azaleas or nightshades. Let them free-range and they'll probably even nibble on the stems too.

I switched to a 55 gallon drum on a pallet with a valve at the bottom and it’s a game changer. I mix three days of mash, let it sit about 24 to 36 hours so it stays sweet, then just crack the valve and fill buckets.
