I have a half-acre property in the rain shadow of the Olympic Peninsula right next to a nearly pristine, state park forest. I just bought it...and the SKIP book. I got the SKIP book for myself mostly, and plan to use it for PEI (Permaculture Experienced by Ingrid). This location is a microclimate within a microclimate with even smaller microclimates.
I am recently "retired" (aka not drinking the corporate Kool-Aid anymore - walked away from a 30-year career in tech - I resigned for many reasons.). I've lived off-grid in my van for up to a year and a half as a digital nomad, stayed in one of Mike Reynold's Earthships (closed loop systems really make my brain tingle), I have built stuff, and am reasonably versed in organic gardening/homesteading. New to permaculture. An introverted synesthete I prefer peace and quiet.
I need some help as I only have two hands and I am getting old(er). I have a full hookup for a tiny house as well as a sleeping loft available in the main house which is only 538 square feet itself. I am considering the main house as the commons where cooking, bathing, and Art happen. I have already installed a rain catchment system which collects 550 gallons of water in just 6 days. It could potentially collect 4000 gallons of water but I'm not "there" yet. There is an old wood stove that I would like to replace with a rocket mass cook stove. It's in a nook about four feet by eight feed wide, and I would like to keep the final build within that space.
I stay in the she-shed which I plan to make completely off-grid with solar, a composting toilet and a gray water system. There is a tourist season here so I may rent the she-shed during the summer but stay in the van on the property.
My preference would be to try this with one, calm, quiet, capable, TRUSTWORTHY person who doesn't have access to land of their own yet. The property is mortgaged so there is no opportunity to inherit it. I'm offering a place to build a SKIP portfolio. I'm not sure what the procedure is for matching people? (I find this website hard to navigate.)
