So, it is a not-so-cold winter in northern California, rainy on and off, and we have scouts in the house. Strangely, the ants aren't in our cupboards, they're up in the bathroom drinking water and licking toothpaste? What are they after in rainy weather like this? Warmth maybe? I read posts from July on fire ants and other ant control, including hot water on the nest, cornmeal, Diatomaceous E, leaving food and water outside, etc. Well, ours are small black ants, what I'd call ordinary, and I can't tell where they are entering from..but this is a reoccurring problem. In the past they've done worse damage, spoiling lots of food in the kitchen. But this time seems different. I'd really like to find out what they need so I can provide it for them outside and make an unfriendly home inside.
I hesitate to use ant stakes, worried that the ants will poison other critters and such, but have used Orange Guard to kill the scouts on contact. Is Orange Guard safe if we clean it after contact?
Does anyone in my area (Sonoma) know why they'd be entering and how to deter them? Gracias.

Things have been busier here than expected, but I think now I can resketch and send this weekend
Haha! It does look that way, doesn't it? More true to life than i thought. Well, I will try to have another draft ready for you soon! With C*O*L*O*R! Probably by the middle of next week.
Take care!

Hey Paul! Ah, I thought the drawing submitted above was by one of your administrators.
I'm happy to keep going with the sketch, absolutely- Colors can be life-like in full range, the text can be removed, I would LOVE to put a book in her hands (is that engrossed enough? or do you want some slouching too?) (Actually I 'll give you a couple sketches to choose from, unless you know what you want), and the stove can have a kettle for sure. Is her foot too near to the stove, by the way? Does it look like she'll be burnt? I just noticed it. The image can be any size- I just had a bit of trouble sizing the file on Photoshop. Other than the text and color block, it is a hand-drawn image.
That's a superb drawing, I really like the style! And coincidentally it is almost identical in subject to mine-- Here, I hope this uploads-- The text can be removed, changed, anything! This is just a preview until I can attach the better file in a small size...
Paul,
To make this relevant, i'll heartily say that I really like your full name idea, and I will change mine in just a minute. Thanks for getting us to all know each other and want to act more like a big permie family!
But! My real post is this- first: please have a search box! I can't find where the post looking for an artist for your logo has gone. Second: I am an artist! And have just finished a logo but I never heard back from you, so haha this is why I'm desperately posting on the first discussion I could find! It may also be that I just couldn't find your response...
But here I have traversed the jungle of your online permie world and now I'd like to hand you that image! How would you like it?
My Best Drawings to You!,
Adriana
Paul,
My good friend Margaret Ruhl told me that you were looking for an artist! I would be so proud if I could offer you a drawing for your logo! I've already begun the sketch. If you are still looking for one, I'll send the final over in a day or so. And even if you found what you need, please feel free to use or enjoy it! It's been good fun to design
