I have received about a dozen offers from folks to draw stuff for me.  Usually when they contact me i can't think of anything.  And then when I think of something i contact them and don't hear back.

So I'm gonna try this a different way.

I'll just post this here and we'll see what comes of it.

I would like to get an image of a woman sitting on a bench next to a rocket mass heater .  This would be the logo image for my article.  So it would need to look good at about 300x300 and it should look reasonably good when shrunk to 120x120.

Have you found someone? My daughter draws a lot. She thinks she can do it. Do you just want to see what people can do and then choose the one you like or how are you going about choosing someone to do the artwork? Is this volunteer or paid art? Thanks

I would like to end up with something of quality similar to cast iron article or the lawn care article.  Although it doesn't have to be the same style.

I've had lots of offers for free, although i don't know where those folks are now.  I suppose I could pay something - but it wouldn't be big bucks.

She has one for you. Do you want it posted here or somewhere else. Then you can say if you want more background or something changed. Or if it isnt what you are after at all. lol

Paul,
My good friend Margaret Ruhl told me that you were looking for an artist! I would be so proud if I could offer you a drawing for your logo! I've already begun the sketch. If you are still looking for one, I'll send the final over in a day or so. And even if you found what you need, please feel free to use or enjoy it! It's been good fun to design

That's a superb drawing, I really like the style! And coincidentally it is almost identical in subject to mine-- Here, I hope this uploads-- The text can be removed, changed, anything! This is just a preview until I can attach the better file in a small size...

I've been so drowning in projects/email/etc I almost forgot all about this!

Daniel,

I like how the barrel is so much more.  And the tea kettle.

Adriana,

I like the angle of the image.  I think your image is further along ... is it easy to make changes?  And, I'm guessing there is a bigger version too?

Can the woman be engrossed in a book?  Can the barrel be daniel-esque with a kettle?  I think it would be best to leave the text out.  Color?

Hey Paul! Ah, I thought the drawing submitted above was by one of your administrators.
I'm happy to keep going with the sketch, absolutely- Colors can be life-like in full range, the text can be removed, I would LOVE to put a book in her hands (is that engrossed enough? or do you want some slouching too?) (Actually I 'll give you a couple sketches to choose from, unless you know what you want), and the stove can have a kettle for sure. Is her foot too near to the stove, by the way? Does it look like she'll be burnt? I just noticed it. The image can be any size- I just had a bit of trouble sizing the file on Photoshop. Other than the text and color block, it is a hand-drawn image.

unless you know what you want

I think I've expressed all that I can think of so far.  So I know what I want and, at the same time,  I have no clue what I want.

I like the idea that you get an impression that she in engrossed in her book, and warming the flat of her foot on the stove - but just one, because it is already pretty comfortable in the room.

Take care!

I met Adriana at the recent permaculture conference.  We had a lovely chat about this image.

Here is the image that Daniel ended up making

Which includes some ideas that Adriana had in her image.  Daniel told me that when I used the image on the rocket mass heater page I needed to make sure to give proper credit to Adriana.  And when I met Adriana I realized I had not done that!  Fixed!
