This badge bit (BB) is part of the PEP curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in textiles.

In this project, you will make an oilcloth tarp.

Minimum requirements:
 - natural materials and waterproofing
 - waterproofing will contain no petroleum products
 - will have flat fell seams
 - will have a stitched hem
 - will have handmade or metal grommets
 - finished size at least 12’ x 14'

Most recipes for the waterproofing solution contain mineral spirits, a petroleum distillate. To meet the requirements for earning this BB, you can substitute turpentine, which is distilled from tree resin.

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2min):
 - Show and describe your fabric, tools, and waterproofing materials.
 - Show and describe making the tarp.
 - Show and describe mixing the waterproofing solution and oiling the tarp.
 - Your completed oilcloth tarp in a way that documents its finished size.

You can find instructions on these videos:

Good heavens! What have you done! Here, try to fix it with this tiny ad:
