This is a badge bit (
BB) that is part of the
PEM curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the
straw badge in
Round Wood Woodworking.
While building a house may be out of reach at the moment, let's get some practice putting together smaller structures. Maybe your new garden needs a garden shed. Or you need a place to keep the tools by your chainsaw bear carving station. Or to hold campfire
wood out by the fire pit. Let's build a little shed and practice round wood joinery at the same time!
Here are some pictures of something like what we want. Maybe they're a bit fancier than needed but you get the idea:
Here's a fairly rough build but it would do the trick:
Minimum requirements:
- At least 6' headroom inside
- At least 6' wide
- At least 3' deep
- Made with a round wood frame
- At least three solid walls
- Can be permanent or skiddable/moveable
- No wood touching the ground
- 90% natural materials by weight (plywood isn't natural)
Provide proof of the following as pictures or
video (<2 min):
- Floor structure mostly done
- Roundwood frame erected
- Finished
shelter
- If the unnatural materials you used are anywhere near 10% of the build, explain why you fall within the 90% natural requirement
