This is a badge bit (
BB) that is part of the
PEM curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in
Waste Streams.
Cardboard tends to occasionally arrive at our houses. One way to use it is to make chicken nest boxes. Let's give that a try!
Surprisingly there aren't pictures or
video of these to share but the idea is to take cardboard boxes and adjust them (if needed) to the right size for your flock to use as nest boxes. When they get dirty, damaged or possibly infested with mites/bugs, replace them with new ones.
Minimum requirements:
- Turn brown cardboard boxes into three nest boxes of the same size
- Remove any tape, labels or staples
- May be for other fowl than chickens
- You can use tape, staples or other materials to keep the boxes in the correct shape as long as those materials are out of reach of the birds
Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
- Cardboard boxes you're starting with
- Midway through making the nest boxes
- Finished boxes showing how they stay together
