The Nourishing Homestead by Ben and Penny Hewitt

Source: Chelseagreen

Publisher: Chelseagreen

Summary

This book tells the story of a family and their homestead. What is interesting of the Hewitt family, Ben, Penny, and their two kids, is how they have experienced so much and share it in such a simple way. Ben speaks of their life and system as an evolution of permaculture, to which they inspire their work, into "practiculture", applied permaculture that has to do with all the day to day work, and finding solutions for the real world. Much of what the Hewitts are attempting on their homestead is to close the gaps that economic separation has created in our health, spirit, and skills. They have decided to take back their freedom in deciding how they want to live. The writing is clear, simple, conversational. It's like sitting around the table with the authors that share their views, philosophy, and experience.
