Is there a notification or something when a post is removed? I thought I posted yesterday and now I can't find the post, but maybe I didn't actually push the post button (sometimes I start posts and then if they're still there when I go to bed I just close the page. Plus I have a crap memory).

It was a link to the HDRA site about organic management of bindweed, and I think it *wasn't* in the bindweed thread that just got removed, but in the other weed thread.

I completely understand Paul running this site the way he wants to. I just don't want to post the link if it's a problem.

Also, is it ok to ask for clarification about why a post is removed, and if so where should that happen (again, this isn't about challenging the site rules, it's about not wanting to break them)?

thanks

Pebble - as far as I know there isn't a notification, but I just looked and the link you mentioned *was* in the thread that was pulled, which is why you can't find it.

I moved the whole thread pending further instructions from Paul about allowing discussion of pesticide use as I don't think it's something he allows, as noted by one of the members.

Your link was not the problem, though I did just click on it and is seems the page it linked to no longer exists, but that's a completely different issue.

oh, that explains why the following happened:
I got two notices of messages to the bindweed thread, when I tried to click on them, I got a screen that said it was moved to the compst heap.

There was a link to something on that page, when I clicked on it, I got an error screen.

So I lot of moving around and confusion.

It would be nice if somewhere it was posted:"Do not mention a herbicide, if you do the entire thread will be deleted."

I would abide by the notice, obviously it is the list owners right to make any regs he/she wants to.

But does the process really have to be so circular and confusing?

There is certainly room for improvement on many fronts.

Since this site runs in the red, we do a lot of "make the best of it".

Burra, thanks for moving that thread.  That was the right thing to do.  I'll fish through it a little later and delete the stuff I don't like.

Ellen and pebble:  I just took a quick glance at the thread, and then thing that I saw that bugged me was talk about the use of poisons.  I'm against that.  To talk about using poisons, you would need to go to some other site.  Even talking about why the poisons are bad is for some other site.  This site is for talking about stuff WAY beyond organic.

As for figuring out what is okay and what is not okay, that's what we try to do with this tinkering forum:  give folks the fine tuning info.

I would like to see that thread talk about how to solve the problem without poisons.  There is almost always a better solution that is toxin free.

I agree, there probably is a better, toxin-free solution.

I don't know what it is, so I hope the thread can be re-instated - minus the objectionable posts - and perhaps someone will come up with, or come across, a solution.

Cause I sure don't want to use the "wach-a-ma-callit".

thanks,
ellen

Yes, the thread will be back after I've cleaned it up a bit.

(waiting for the coffee to do its thing)

Thanks everyone

Good to see the edited thread is back.

Burra, I must have got the two threads mixed up. Both my posts are gone now though. I'll be more careful in the future.

I agree a list of topics not allowed would be useful. I had no idea about the weedkiller one until someone mentioned it, and I think it's a very sensible rule.
