Ponds are very good for attracting all sorts of wildlife, you can help the wildlife by collecting plants from neighboring ponds. It will bring in insect eggs on the leaves, and smaller creatures that create a healthy stable ecosystem, frogs will come and stay, they smell water from long away and lay eggs , the young will take care of mosquitos. All sorts of birds and flying insects will come and have a drink or a bite. It's the best thing one can do to increase bio diversity in a system. The more diverse, the more shockproof.
