Banana Circle Pond?

Last week I dug a banana circle at my uncle's house. Everyday since then it has steadily been filling with water. The dimensions are 2m wide by 1m deep. Now the water is now about 50cm deep.

My cousins have been catching frogs in the neighborhood and releasing them into this "pond"

Is this advantgeous to have a small banana circle pond? I know the pdm says to use it as a mulch pit, but this won't really work since all the mulch will just be floating in water.

I liked the idea of recycling "wastes" via a mulch pit, but Im not confident enough nutrients will be provided by simply maintaining a small pond.

In his pdc videos, Geoff Lawton talks about some banana circles he built that filled with water and overflowed. He dumped in mulch like normal and just kept digging more connected banana circles as they overflowed. Finally, when he reached the lower boundary of the property, he put in a swale to direct the flow back into the main stream. More water is an asset, not a liability. Maybe this can remain a tiny water feature instead of a mulch pit. A water ecosystem is very active.

I would be worried about mosquitoes. And mosquito-borne diseases.

Ponds are very good for attracting all sorts of wildlife, you can help the wildlife by collecting plants from neighboring ponds. It will bring in insect eggs on the leaves, and smaller creatures that create a healthy stable ecosystem, frogs will come and stay, they smell water from long away and lay eggs , the young will take care of mosquitos. All sorts of birds and flying insects will come and have a drink or a bite. It's the best thing one can do to increase bio diversity in a system.The more diverse, the more shockproof.

When I dug our banana circle, the same thing happened. I just filled it with compost as if it didn't have any water in it. It seems to be doing okay.
