news articles that support or are useful for permaculture

It makes me think times "might be a changin". This week my news feed had two articles that might be good news for people who take a permaculture approach and therefore value diversity, soil building, and/or a new approach to seeing the world.

Researchers planting extremely old seeds from "extinct" plants - hopefully there will be some diversity rescued here!

Quebec is going to task producers with planning for end of life issues for their products.
They're going to expand their deposit program to encourage and streamline recycling programs.
It sounds as if they've got both Provincial and Municipal governments on board.
Both Greenpeace Canada and the David Suzuki Foundation are supportive of the program.

There are so many ways we can package things better - let's hope this initiative leads to many positive changes.

Essentially, it demonstrates what a direct link to human "manufacturing" and "air pollution" there is. I wish this would convince people to make real changes in how things are made. We can keep making/buying cheap stuff that is expensive to our planet! We can choose better ways with our wallet and local effort.
