Paul i was wondering...

Was looking through the photographs of Sepp H Austria place on the picassa web album, and I was wondering what the plants are that he has between the fruit trees? If you know.

If you take the mountains away and put a little less land and water in, you would have a very similar site as where we are, I'm sure he has more temperate climate in austria, but most of the plants I see growing there are growing here.

My audio on my computer isn't working so for some reason i can't get the sound on the web videos, but I'll check them out later on my laptop, i can hear with that one.

I was amazed at how much like our pond his pond is, ours is MUCH smaller and maybe not as deep but very similar plantings to what we are doing here. Are there other sites that might have more photos than are listed on the pics thread in this forum?

That is an excellent question.

Apparently it is covered pretty thoroughly in his books that are not yet translated to english. 

But that is also a bit of the mission for every permie:  figure out what plants to put under your fruit trees.  And more - what makes up all of your food forest. 

My last email to Sepp's son, Josef, asked for some of this info.  It's been about a week so far ...  we'll see. 

In the meantime, Gaia's Garden touches into this a fair bit. 

Thanks I have been looking at a lot of new permaculture sties online, got myself on this computer for hours now, which means I'm not getting my planting done outside now that we have 60's. Funny.

I have gotten a lot of things planted under my fruit trees already, as a large number of them are established for a while now. Just interested in what he has planted under his i guess. His place is so beautiful, I have sent the links to many of my friends and neighbors. Shame we don't all live in the mountains of austria, but alas Michigan is MUCH flatter, however still vey wet here.

I did gain a LOT of ideas LOOKING at the permaculture sites, films and photographs, soon hope to actually be able to hear them when I can get the sound working so I can gain more knowledge. Apprecaite all the links.

did want to mention to you or Dave though, that in that contest thing..although I would love to attend a class or workshop, I'm a heck of a long way away from the Pacific NorthWest..I'll just be thankful to glean the knowledge I can from books, internet and this and other forums that you have kindly referred me to.

I'll keep trying to get the answer to that. 

If anybody here speaks german, I would be willing to buy the book if we can get some of these answers!

sorry, my husband does a very little..but not enough to translate a sentance let alone a book..and head injury and short term memory loss ..he wouldn't get thru page 1
