I read something today where somebody was asking what can they do to give
spoons to the
boots. Maybe a package could arrive and the boots would feel loved and uplifted. I'm really a bit too grumpy to be of much help with this, but there have been some things I have seen ...
From far away ....
I think the thing that haunts most the boots is coin. I offer a lot of coin stuff, but I think for most of them, the BRK is the best thing. Then they can buy some meals in town once in a while, cover their cell phone stuff, etc. And when the BRK funds are heavy, the boot receiving the funds tends to buy a meal out for the rest of the boots and buy something nice. Plus, all the people supporting the BRK get to see lots of pictures and stuff of projects.
Another thing that would help is to have more boots here. There are 50 people on the waiting list, but when we ask the waiting list for four more boots, we get one more boot.
I have an idea that if I can get more videos in my channel about stuff here and about the bootcamp, then we will get more boots. At the same time, it would seem that the bounty I am offering right now is not
enough. If I could offer a bigger bounty for, say, 20 videos, maybe it would get the ball rolling.
I can say that we have received care packages in the past and THAT has been a huge hit. Two different people from hawaii have sent packages with lots of macadamia nuts! Sometimes we get packages where people just hit some
yard sales and sent us some tools and stuff.
I provide food staples - but I think there are times the boots would like a shortcut. Something a bit more pre-prepared (and still organic!). Maybe a lot of granola? Maybe lots of organic nuts and organic dried fruit?
We provide lots of tea, but we don't provide
coffee. And it seems like some of the boots like coffee.
When winter rolls around .... some people have knitted hats for the boots, and I know they really like that. Others have provided really good coats and boots and those have been well loved.
It would be fun take the boots out this year for white
water rafting, or a trip to a fancy hot springs.
Passing through ...
lots of donuts from vera donuts (everything at vera is vegan and we have quite a few vegans).
I have witnessed the magic of heaps of organic cream cheese for the non-vegans. It disappears quickly.
Black cat bakery in missoula will sometimes
sell whole huckleberry pies.
Organic ice cream (and vegan equivalents).
Eric brought a massive load of nuts, bolts, tools, materials and two trailers ... so much stuff that it took us a month to find homes for all of it.
Mostly, I am a bit to hyper focused on my own projects, so my brain doesn't think of stuff that would be fun. So I would very much appreciate suggestions!
