so is this how Tesla did his electric car box?

He stopped at a hardware shop, bought some wire, and some vac tubes and passive components. Went home and built a "box" in the afternoon, and hooked it up to a car that night.
swapped in an electric motor, and left in the 12v battery.

hooked up the box, slid in a "rod" of metal, and drove the car around for a week. The rod is proposed as just a bus bar switch, was the rest just a shielding and multiplying loop?

and his site

he is getting a very distinct push of 10pA from all passive components. that isn't a lot, but about 2 orders of mag above theoretical levels. if you used a chain of transistors or valves to multipy.....

claim that it was the generator in the car...

Being someone that has worked in the electronics industry for 20+ years, something sounded fishy about this.
I've been working with diodes, piezo electric devices, etc. for decades, and they have never started spontaneously creating energy out of nothing.

He says repeatedly things like "academic scientists that have confirmed the effect" (which scientists? what are their names? where is their data?)

If you have links to names, data, etc. please post it.

if it is this simple to create, it should be very simple to verify.

I didn't mention that Tesla is one of my heros, I think he is one of the most interesting guys that ever lived.

Having said that, I think it is important to separate the reality from the myths as much as possible.
That is pretty hard with Tesla because some of the things he did come up with seem to make some of the more off
the wall claims about him seem plausible.

I think it is important to test claims made about Tesla and his work consistently.
Testing, verification, results.

Just came across this myself, but all the old repair guys always found that the old caps in the back of the parts bin almost always had a small but measurable charge.

would be easy enough to test for. He says negative ions help "settle" the passives. would flow an ion generator over em a couple days, and then try one in a faraday cage, and one in a regular box, and see if you get any difference. he says you cant move em at all, and was using a via, with fishing line tied thru, to make a pull contact switch.

I think they are just trapping some of the "field effect" charge from the suns mag field, but since no one actually tests for whatever that brand of static is, guess we wont ever know.
there is lots of interesting stuff coming out of the nano antenna folks the last couple years, from wifi trapping, to un-explained stuff.

Solar Electric dump.

All that energy is going somewhere.....

great RF and antenna guys

As for capacitors, this is a verifiable effect of electrolytic capacitors. In fact I just pulled out MY random capacitor parts bin and measured 10-15 of them, and almost all had 40mv to as much as 2v. There is nothing magical about this though as this can be caused by dielectric memory / dielectric absorption or simply the fact that they contain electrolytes which will create a battery like effect.

Obviously our surroundings are full of electrical / magnetic energy, crystal radios work with only the power of the waves they pull out of the air. Connect any random piece of metal to a diode and you will measure something coming out of that diode in reference to ground.
This is the basic effect that allows all radio communications to work, but can it be used to generate enough power to do anything else?
I don't know, I would love to see some verifiable, repeatable proof though.

I thought the Dielectric effect was caused by the destruction of the different metals. Those old caps are usually still good until the electrolyte dries out. Havnt tested out any of the teflon or mylar ones.

As to a cap being a battery, they still aren't quite sure how a cap actually works. Lots of talk of donors and holes, and quantum tunneling, but like magnetism, they still aren't sure.

I think he was getting his power from his Tower of Power. That is why it was destroyed before people could find out about it.
