Paw Paw trees

I just acquired almost an acre of grass and would love to plant fruit trees. Where is the best place to purchase Paw Paw trees?

Look at the different states that have conservation departments that have tree sales.  They usually sell out fast on Pawpaw and these are wild rootstock.  Plant the Pawpaw and wait a couple years and graft the cultivar scions onto the stems.  England's Nursery in Kentucky sells cultivar scions of Pawpaw and Persimmon. Learn to graft.  After 5 years figure out what to do with all that fruit.

Knowing what part of the world you are in might help with recommendations.  We have folks from all parts of the world including the US, Canada, the UK and even Spain.

Dennis has given you a great suggestion about state conservation departments.

I got my pawpaw saplings from northgeorgiaorganics on instagram. They arrived bare-root, each with at least 1 healthy green leaf on each stem. All between 12"-16" from rootline to tip, and doing very well in their new pots and spots on the property.  

The saplings are grown from seed, so they're all unique cultivars and should have no problem cross-pollinating.
My shipping was delayed several times due to weird weather patterns - sudden freezes, storms, heat spikes that he said he didn't want to risk the saplings dying from during transport, but he sent me a few extra saplings as an apology for the delay, so it's all good in my book =)  They arrived in great condition, from georgia to kentucky.

If you’re in Canada probably no one in the world will sell you a Paw Paw tree for any price, no matter what you do. There seem to be about like 20 sold every year nationwide from a small handful of nurseries that actually carry them and if you don’t get one you’re out of luck. No one will ship to you from anywhere. Good luck.

I've had very good luck with Paw Paw seeds. While it does take a bit of time, me and my friends ( from different areas) all sprouted the seeds. My seeds come from a wild patch of tree here in Southern WV.  If you are having a tough time finding tree this might be an option. Starkbro also in the falls sells Paw Paw trees.
